"My wife, Cynthia, and I had rented a cabin on Beaver Lake in northern Arkansas, and the view from the front porch was breathtaking. I had been reading a book that mentioned the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:5) which every good Jew prays morning and evening. Jesus, when asked which is the greatest commandment, recited “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength”, like any good Jewish son would do. But then, he added a relatively unimportant law (Lev 19:18) as the second greatest commandment, to also “love your neighbor as yourself”. So, inspired by the view and Luke 10:27, I picked up my guitar and wrote “Jesus’ Creed”."
